Globetree Print

Many youth and children worry about the future. Since  Globetree was founded in 1982,  youth and children’s questions about the future have been our primary focus and concern. Children and youth have determined the role of Globetree, and from their input we have developed project/programmes such as Future Meetings, the Future Vessel and the Children’s Meeting Place.

Project leaders that have participated in the abovementioned projects and activities have consistently noticed a positive change in attitude and behaviour among children, youth and municipality delegates. Our ongoing committment to reach out further to local, regional, national and international communities is the mission of the World Championship in Cooperation.

Our Latest Project

The world is full of competitions with winners and losers. How would it be and what would it look like if we create a World Championship in Cooperation where all are winners? In the World Championship in Cooperation everybody is a winner and worthy receivers of the gold medal! Globetree's mandate is to support the project locally and then help disseminate information about offshoots and programs that are the result of this grand event.

Currently 20 municipalities or city districts and 11 counties in Sweden have expressed their interest in the World Championship in Cooperation. During the preparation phase until June 2006, a large number of local and regional cooperation projects will develop in Sweden and other countries all over the world.

Creative Meeting Places

Over many years, Globetree has identified and determined how people can best meet: physically, mentally and spiritually. We have concluded that the inspirational source of meeting and connecting is creativity. To be creative means to use your full set of capabilities for a valued and valuable purpose.

This universal language is understood by all, and crosses boundaries of race, age and nations. Children of all cultures rejoice in creative, playful expression.

As a learning tool, creativity, in its multitude of forms, allows children to articulate the deepest level of personal interpretation of the world around them. Employing dance, drama, poetry, song, music, rap, sculpture, painting or new and innovative forms of creativity, children share their unique outlook on life. Together, they build a collective vision of their world through creative collaboration.

Our goal is to nurture and strengthen children and youth’s self esteem, and increase their awareness into the possibilities of positive change in their lives. Globetree’s Future Vessel and Children’s Meeting Place are projects that have exemplified this goal.

Globetree is creating meeting places, not only between children, but also between youth and decision makers within all sectors of the society. Successful engagement between generations is essential for building a safe and sustainable democracy.

Positive interaction between youth and municipal leaders empower our young to make a difference in the lives of others, teach them about the processes of decision-making and help them develop a keen sense of civic responsibility.

Platform

Our platform is the UN-documents The Rights of the Child and Agenda 21. The process of creative inspiration is formulated in UNESCO’s report “Our Creative Diversity”. One of the key results proposed from the World Championship in Cooperation is the contribution it will make to fufilling the intentions of the Millennium Goals. The challenge is to take the wisdom of children’s words, dreams and visions of the future and transform them into practical results and real, concrete actions.
