Why indigenous people? Print

During the finale of the Water Ceremony in Stockholm’s Globe Arena, 1998, Chief Oren Lyons, Onondaga Nation, North America, shared a deeper perspective of life.
“When you make a decision, have it in mind that the consequences from your choices will affect the next seven generations!”

Chief Lyons also said that we should cherish our leaders. We should give them support, inspiration and energy to do a good job. Our leader’s decisions can be questioned and criticized, but if we want good leaders we also have to respect and encourage them.

During the World Championship of Cooperation indigenous Elders from 5 continents will be guests of honour at the opening Our Uniting Water Ceremony at Strömparterren in Stockholm, and they will be invited to share their knowledge and insights from their cultures throughout the week's activities.
