The City of Stockholm, together with the Globetree, invite you to work together with children and youth from around the world in the innaugural World Championship in Cooperation.
Children and youth reflect and ask questions...
Why does TV and other media focus so much on the bad in the world – when there is also so much good!
The World Championship in Cooperation will manifest answers to this and many other important questions, inviting discussion centered around children’s thoughts and questions. During 10 days in May and June 2006, adults from around the world are invited to the children’s meeting place, to build an arena full of creative installations - large and small, and gather together for unexpected meetings and unique explorations into the spirit of cooperation.
The Platform for the World Championship in Cooperation are the two UN-declarations; Convention of the Rights of the Child and Agenda 21, as well as the report by UNESCO, "Our Creative Diversity". The all-embracing goal is to contribute to the fulfilment of the UN Millennium Development Goals.
The guiding themes for the first World Championship in Cooperation are:
Environment – Integration /Diversity – Communication
All agree that there are many problems to be solved around the world, and all agree we need innovative and creative solutions at all levels to tackle them. Children are excellent innovators and creative partners - if we allow them!
The World Championship in Cooperation will give time and space for children, youth and adults to mobilize around issues of life importance. Inner and outer realities have equal value and will be met on equal terms. A poem on grief and deep loss is as important as a concrete cooperative project. Nothing is too big or too small in the World Championship in Cooperation!
Everyone will get a Gold medal !
When you cooperate everyone is a winner! That is why we will be awarding thousands of Gold medals at the finale at the Globen arena the 2nd of June.
