The scope of Globetree's work is international. In the global arena, Globetree has received a selection of honourable appointments.

Since the founding in 1982, Globetree has developed many projects in cooperation with countries in Africa, Asia, South and Central America. In August 2004, Globetree and LVRAC (Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Cooperation) signed an agreement to continue developing cooperative projects.

Globetree received ECOSOC status from the United Nations, and is the only Swedish organization to receive the prestigious UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) Global 500 Roll of Honour Award in the Youth category: ”...for outstanding achievements in the protection and improvement of the environment”.

UNEP also dedicated a special place around a big acacia tree at the UN Headquarters in Nairobi, as the Childrens Meeting Place. Here children, youth and municipal politicians and mayors from Kenya, Sweden, Tanzania and Uganda have had ongoing meetings and seminars. One result of such meetings has been the creation of a children and youth network in the Lake Victoria Region.
